I will say this over and over again forever until I’m blue The Witcher enter the Witcher shirt in the face but if you insist on having a nonlinear timeline, and not making that fact clear, you will alienate audiences. They will spend so much time wonder wtf is going on that they will not be able to immerse themselves in the story. The showrunners have stated that they chose to go with this ridiculously complicated timeline in order to give the three main characters enough screen time in each episode. I can kind of understand this reasoning however if you feel like a nonlinear timeline is absolutely the only way to go to tell the story you want to tell me upfront and honest about that! If you wait too long to reveal the truth about the timeline,

people will stop watching before they make it to that The Witcher enter the Witcher shirt reveal, which I almost did. Why did I keep watching them? I felt like Yennefer was a compelling character, she did not fall into the idea of the trope that a disabled character must somehow be divine and have no flaws other than her physical one. I liked the fresh take on overused fantasy races (the elf genocide was very interesting to me). There are certainly likable aspects to the show, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the timeline was enough to lose casual audiences. Apart from the eponymous Witcher, to which Henry Cavill does justice, all the other characters are unrecognizable. My impression is that I’m watching a school play based on a famous movie, where the lead actors have been replaced by the closest amateur look-alikes that this unfortunate high school could field.
