Idleness. I would never be idle. Work (your “occupation”) always has times when you are waiting for the I just want to go camping and smell like a campfire shirt, regardless of the industry. If I was to work for myself then it would be that: no idle. I would be learning languages, learning engineering, learning woodworking, learning physically (working out), and of course sleeping as much as I liked. I come from an anthropology background as well as a construction background. In both fields, you are best to never be idle, as there is always something to be doing or something to be learning.

So my advice is if you are going to call a recruiter you’d better be sure that he/she has a role that matches what you are looking for I just want to go camping and smell like a campfire shirt. You should also be able to prove that you are a candidate with the experience necessary for the type of role you are looking for. And even then, it’s more about if they have a role to match what you are looking for. I think the best you can hope for is for them to keep you in mind for when a role similar to what you are looking for comes up next. But happy to hear if you or others have a different experience.
